Five Fabulous Paint Colors for Kids of All Ages

Room design for schoolgirl

When it comes to choosing interior paint colors for kid’s rooms, the choices can be overwhelming. With faux finishes, stencils and painter’s tape it’s easier than ever to create a room for your child that is truly as unique as they are. One hot trend in kid’s rooms and other interior design ideas is to choose a neutral wall paint color and add color through bedding, area rugs, window treatments and wall art. This creates an overall clean and modern feel your child will enjoy coming home to. However, the classic blue boy’s room and pink girl’s room certainly hasn’t fallen out of favor either. Paint color aside, every parent is looking for a room that will grow along with their children as they age. Along these lines, we’re prepared a list of five fantastic colors for your child’s room that will outlast their changing interests while still providing a beautiful backdrop for their prized possessions and works of art.

  1. Benjamin Moore Apple Blossom– This gender neutral, soothing green color is the ideal wall paint for a boy or girl and can easily adapt to the decor changes you may want to make after your baby’s arrival as it jives beautifully with pink, coral or navy.
  2. Swimming by Sherwin Williams– Aqua is today’s neutral, it simply works anywhere you want to put it, provided you select the right shade. Your child’s room is no exception and out of all the Sherwin Williams paints, Swimming adds a cool touch of whimsy and a great backdrop for both rest and play. Pair it with kelly green for a fun contrast, lemon for a citrusy vibe, or pink for a more feminine flair.
  3. Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray – It’s hard to go wrong with a well chosen gray wall paint and one of our favorite Benjamin Moore paint colors is Stonington Gray. This soothing paint color has the ability to work well with any paint scheme you have in mind and is the ideal choice if you want to leave your walls neutral and add color through art and textiles in your child’s room.
  4. Ballet Slippers by Benjamin Moore – A lovely and completely classic pink reminiscent of spring flowers and tea dresses and of course, a new pair of ballet slippers. This almost silvery pink would be enchanting for a nursery and will grow with your little girl as she moves from crib to day bed. It pairs well with crisp white, deep brown, fresh greens and nearly any other color combination you can dream up for your little girl.
  5. Indigo Batik by Sherwin Williams– If you’re looking for a rich blue, you won’t be disappointed by Indigo Batik. Use it as an accent wall or boldly paint an entire room with it. Pair it with reds and oranges for a more masculine feel or throw in pops of yellow and coral for a tween or teen girl room.

As parents, we want to create rooms for our children that make them feel loved and known, but we don’t always have the time to paint because we find ourselves so busy with the business of parenting. This is where Cherry Hill Painting can help; let our painters be the ones to transform your child’s room so you can create space for family time and enjoy all that Western, NJ and the Greater Philadelphia, PA areas have to offer you and your children.
