Paint Color Trends of 2015: What Will the Popular Interior Colors Be?

One of the best feelings that the new year offers comes from a very simple act: pulling down the old calendar and putting up the new. A year of chicken scratch and reminders is gone, and 365 little blank squares full of possibility are ahead.

It’s also fun during this time of year to imagine what stylistic trends are around the corner, and what popular palettes will begin to color our world. After all, we love paint! With this in mind, we thought we’d share which interior colors are slipping onto the throne and establishing themselves as the top choices of 2015. Maybe it will help guide you into your next painting endeavor, or at least spark a little inspiration!

Grey, but Never Gloomy

According to both Sherwin Williams and the Paint Quality Institute, the projected king of interior paint colors for 2015 is (drum roll…) grey. If you like grey you probably think that this makes sense, but if you maybe associate this particular member of the spectrum with rainy afternoons or a bleak outlook, you might need to get to know this color all over again.

Why Paint Grey?

First of all, grey is the head of a huge family of shades, ranging from incredibly light to strong, deep tones. There are a wide variety of grey options offered within the Cool Neutral family. Play with the Sherwin Williams’ Color Visualizer to get a sense of what might look best in your home!

In addition, grey is a color that plays very well with others. This allows you to mix and match decorations and accents, all while maintaining a cool, classy, style.

It’s Easy Being Green

Well, it’s at least easy to see why Guilford Green is Benjamin Moore’s top pick for 2015. It’s neutral, but still makes its own presence known. Much like the versatility of grey, this green is asking for accents and decorative creativity to work alongside it.
